Shower was clean, close to tram to city and easy access to rain

We would definitely return here. Our stay here was pleasant, super base for exploring Amsterdam. Everyone from the staff was great. The continental breakfast catered for everyone.
-
Near the public transport and not far from city centre, clean, spacious room with fair price. Good for money!
-
Very comfortable, very spacious and very bright. It is on the outskirts of Amsterdam but very well connected to the city centre as there is a metro stop and a tram stop just a few metres away.
I have to say that although the hotel's services met our expectations, as far as the reception staff are concerned I do have one negative comment to make. Two days before the end of our stay we asked the receptionist if he could please call us a taxi to take us to the airport on the day of the flight, for a fixed price (which we had previously been told in writing was 30 EUROS), to which he replied that of course the taxi driver would be called the day he left the hotel and would pick us up at the hotel door. The last day arrived, we did the checkout, the receptionist called the taxi, he picked us up, and once at the airport he told us that it was 35 EUROS + 2 EUROS extra charge for paying with card, in total 37. We told the taxi driver that the price that they assured us in the hotel as a fixed price was 30 EUROS and he said no, that it was 35 EUROS plus the 2 EUROS surcharge. We felt cheated and defrauded by the hotel staff.

We just want to describe something that happened when my husband and I arrived to HEM hotel on Saturday 24 April on 20:00 pm. We feel very upset about your staff who is a woman with blond straight hair. Her attitude is very aggressive to us who are the customer of the HEM hotel. Details as following; 1. Breakfast: She said to us that our booking is without breakfast, but we showed the booking reference to her, so she did something with the computer for a while and just said OK without say anything. 2. WIFI-Code: when we asked for the WIFI-Code that Mr.Tim Fenenko, E-communication Manager, already confirmed us via e-mail that HEM hotel will provide to us when we arrive, but she said have no code due to system error without say any sorry. 3. Smoking Room: when I went into the room I smell a lot of smoke which I booked non-smoking room since February!!! And when I contacted the front-office (the same woman) to change the room, she said at that day have no non-smoking room vacant without any apologize. (Compare to the All Seasons Hotel in Paris which we stayed in the next 2 days, again we got the smoking room due to full booking but the All Seasons hotel apologized to us and tried to clean up the room, which HEM hotel did not do anything) We are able to say that this hotel is the worst hotel that we have ever stayed. (Just because of one person)

bad location far from city center phone in the room not working the staff not cooperative
-
damp smell in corider

Staff was very friendly and helpful, always willing to work with us. Linens were clean, room was clean. Very short walk to tram station, and about 20-30 minutes until you are downtown Amsterdam. Parking was open-air (for larger vehicles) and secure in lot.
On the outskirts of town, a bit run-down neighborhoods---although nothing scary. A older hotel, you can see that it has seen it's fair wear and tear. Beds were a bit old and hard to sleep on, and not much space the more beds you have in the room. (We had 4)

-
i liked how friendly the staff were .The simple fact that they were not only pleasent but showed a great sense of humour. They made our trip to amsterdam a lot more pleasent
-
the food served at the night service is amazing
way out if town, hard to find, rude staff on the front desk, terrible view from our room- it was a wall.

The breakfast and the fact that the hotel is near my friend's place.
I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions before and everything was more or less OK. However, this time was a disaster. My room was cold and I only got some heat the next day after the maintenance guy cleaned the air conditioner. My toilet was clogged when I got to the room so I was forced to lay cable elsewhere. They only got around to fixing the toilet about 4 or 5 hours after I complained about the problem. However, the worst problem was on my second night when some sort of weird noise was coming from the pipes in the bathroom. It was loud enough to prevent me from having a good night's sleep but not loud enough to force me to wake up completely and change rooms in the middle of the night. So, it was a major pain in the derrière.
